Course Overview

​

Spectral Training Academy offers a nationally recognised training program that meets the requirements of SITHGAM022 PROVIDE RESPONSIBLE  GAMBLING  SERVICE.  This  unit  of competency is nationally recognised and delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), accredited by Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

 

If you intend to work in the hospitality industry in a position that requires to you serve patrons who are engaging in or exposed to any type of gambling activity you need to hold a current accredited Responsible Service of Gambling RSG/RCG certificate.

 

This course is relevant to anyone who has contact with patrons on licensed premises, such as bar staff, courtesy and security staff, waiters, concierge, front door and reception staff.

 

The Responsible Conduct of Gaming (RCG) opens your career opportunities to gain work gambling industry. Learn to provide responsible gambling services and manage patrons using gaming machines in your establishment with a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) card.

Course Pre-requisites

There are no formal educational requirements for this program.

 

Language Literacy and Numeracy 

The training and assessment for this course is conducted in English only. The training package mandates that all participants seeking admission into the course have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are further explained as follows:

 

  • Adequate literacy skills are required to read and comprehend documents such as ID cards, proof of age cards, drivers licences, statutory signage, warning signs and wording within advertising or promotional material, in-house policies and procedures and any general plain English regulatory and advisory information issued by local, or state and territory liquor licensing authorities

  • Adequate numeracy skills are required to measure and calculate standard drinks or samples and calculate blood alcohol levels related to alcohol consumption.

 

We will attempt to support you with English assistance, such as providing verbal assessments in English. However, should your needs for support or assistance exceed the support we can provide, we will refer you to a suitable organisation to assist further, like TAFE.

Course Duration

The duration of the course is at least 6.0 hours.

 

Mode of Delivery

The training program is delivered online. People requiring special provisions are advised to mention their requirements in the enrolment form or contact administration staff prior to the commencement of the course to ensure that their needs are catered for.

The course covers the following

  • Provide responsible gambling services to customers

  • Promote safety (harm minimisation) in venues where there are gaming machines

  • Recognise gambling problems and addiction

  • Follow legal and organisational procedures

  • Stay up to date with the latest gambling law

Achieve your Goals

  • Completing this course provides you with:

  • An interim RCG certification that allows you to work immediately in gaming venues across NSW, before applying for competency card

  • Knowledge of regulations and legislation around gaming responsibilities

 

Assessment Methods

Participants assessed online through open-book assessment, role play, case studies and problem-solving activities.

Awards

After completion of the course, you will receive

​

  1. A Statement of attainment in the unit SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling service issued by Spectral Training Academy; and

  2. An Interim Certificate provided by NSW Liquor and Gaming to be given by Spectral Training Academy.

 

You will generally receive the Interim Certificate and Statement of Attainment (SOA) the next working day, via email.

​

Photo Competency Card

Once students got their interim certificate, they can then apply to obtain Photo Competency Card by visiting Service NSW and have it processed. You need to take a valid hundred points photo ID and interim certificate while visiting Service NSW for application.

​

  • The competency card lasts for five years and needs to renew before the expiry date.

  • People seeking a replacement Photo Competency Card need to contact the NSW L&G.
